Speedy Trial for Karate Instructor’s incident where a 15 year old girl student (was subjected to) sexual harassment.

The case related to the 15 year old girl child was called up by the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court where the Victim’s rights to speedy trial was articulated by the Chairperson of National Child Protection Authority (NCPA), Ms. Marini de Livera and Assistant Director Law Enforcement, Ms. Yashali Abesundara. Both who are Attorney at Law present in court yesterday.
The case is to go on trial on the 24th of January 2018.
The NCPA appeared in court yesterday in terms of Article 14(h) of NCPA Act No. 50 of 1998 which empowers the said authority to monitor the progress of all investigations and criminal investigations and criminal proceeding relating to child abuse.
